Total Program Requirements:

  • Total Apprenticeship Hours: 3,000 hours

  • Total Coursework Hours: 217 hours

  • Combined Total Hours: 3,217 hours

  • Program Duration: Approx. 24 months

Weekly Schedule:

  • Weekly Salon Hours: 30 hours

  • Weekly Coursework Hours: 2-5 hours (tailored as needed)

Financial Overview:

  • Program Cost: $12,000

    • Down Payment: $2,000 for supplies and commitment

    • Monthly Payments: $400 until full payment is reached

    • Payment Options:

      • Pay-When-Available

      • Payroll Deduction

Approximate Net Profit During Program:

  • Earnings: $55,250 (wages and tips)

  • Wage: Minimum wage + incremental raises with program advancement

  • Net Profit After Program Costs: $43,250

Apprenticeship Framework Overview

The Program is structured into five (5) phases:

Phase 1: Salon Operations, Sanitation, and Safety (400 hours)

  • Salon Operations and Client Management: 100 hours

  • Sanitation and Hygiene Practices: 100 hours

  • Workplace Safety Protocols: 100 hours

  • First Aid and Emergency Procedures: 50 hours

  • Client Consultation and Communication Skills: 50 hours

Phase 2: Foundational Cosmetology Skills (600 hours)

  • Anatomy and Physiology of Hair, Skin, and Nails: 100 hours

  • Product Knowledge and Usage: 50 hours

  • Shampooing and Conditioning Treatments: 50 hours

  • Basic Hair Cutting Techniques: 150 hours

  • Basic Hairstyling Techniques: 100 hours

  • Manicures and Pedicures: 100 hours

  • Basic Skin Care and Facials: 50 hours

Phase 3: Intermediate Cosmetology Skills (800 hours)

  • Intermediate Hair Cutting Techniques: 200 hours

  • Chemical Texture Services (Perms and Relaxers): 150 hours

  • Hair Coloring Theory and Techniques: 200 hours

  • Intermediate Hairstyling Techniques: 100 hours

  • Artificial Hair (Extensions and Wigs): 50 hours

  • Intermediate Skin Care Treatments: 50 hours

  • Hair Removal Services (Waxing and Threading): 50 hours

Phase 4: Advanced Cosmetology Skills (800 hours)

  • Advanced Hair Cutting Techniques: 200 hours

  • Advanced Hair Coloring Techniques (Balayage, Ombre, etc.): 200 hours

  • Advanced Hairstyling Techniques (Updos, Braiding, etc.): 150 hours

  • Advanced Chemical Texture Services: 100 hours

  • Advanced Skin Care Treatments (Peels, Microdermabrasion, etc.): 50 hours

  • Makeup Application Techniques: 50 hours

Phase 5: Salon Business and Professional Development (400 hours)

  • Salon Business Operations and Management: 150 hours

  • Marketing and Client Retention Strategies: 100 hours

  • Professional Ethics and Conduct: 50 hours

  • Portfolio Development and Job Interview Preparation: 50 hours

  • State Board Exam Preparation: 100 hours
